A few good gems
Hello, weekenders. I'm a bit late posting this week and it's already Saturday morning where I am--come on in, the water's fine! Maddy's off taking the ACT this morning, Sam's just emerged from his teen boy Saturday sleep-in, and I'm happily puttering around still in my pajamas.
A few lovely gems for you from the internets lately:
I'm a new (but slightly obsessed) fan of Becca Stadtlander's illustrations. This one speaks to my soul. My favorite combination: bed and book.
Cross a piano with a cello and you get an instrument that Leonardo Da Vinci invented 500 years ago. A Polish concert pianist built one and premiered it last year; it sounds just like you'd hope.
.
You may have already seen this posted around but I think it bears repeating. This moment of clarity when a mama with Alzheimer's recognizes her daughter again just about split my heart wide open:
Ursula Le Guin on "starting late" as a writer. Because I love late-bloomer stories. (Also love this interview with Nora Ephron on a similar theme. I might have already posted that link before but it's still a gem.)
.
This woman takes Facebook cover photos to a new level:
Steve Jobs was a low-tech parent (and so are a lot of other tech experts). We're fans of the no-screens-in-bedrooms rule around here, too.
.
London-based artist Abigail Brown creates some pretty fantastic creatures with papier mache. I'm torn between wanting to make some of our own and coveting buying one of hers (in her shop, here) [found via the Jealous Curator]
Hope you have a smashing weekend!
